WASHINGTON, D.C., June 10, 2026 — Common Sense America (CSA) President and Founder Steve Crim issued a statement following the Executive Order Strengthening Customs Enforcement, which was signed by President Trump last week.
“President Trump’s order for stricter customs enforcement is a welcome step toward the transparency and accountability needed in our import processes, and we are thrilled to see the administration headed in this direction.”
“Without necessary verification measures, it is impossible to ensure the quality, origin, or safety of imported cement. This new order will allow closer scrutiny of foreign products when they arrive in our ports, leveling the international playing field so domestic producers can compete.”
“To truly prevent low-quality imports from drowning out domestic production, we need to explicitly include mill certificates, quality-control testing requirements, and enhanced shipment documentation for cement. Ultimately, without stronger enforcement and clear standards, substandard imports will continue to distort competition, erode domestic production capacity, and threaten the reliability of our infrastructure.”
