Steve Crim, president of Common Sense America, introduces American Foundations, a new initiative aimed at strengthening U.S. cement production. With nearly 25% of cement currently imported—often lower quality—Crim warns of risks to infrastructure, jobs, and national security.
American Foundations will work to expand the availability of American-made cement to create jobs, build resilient infrastructure, grow our economy, and enhance national security.
The rapid expansion of US data centers is expected to significantly increase cement demand, requiring nearly 1 million mt over the next three years, according to the American Cement Association.
American-made cement is a strategic national resource that underpins U.S. infrastructure development, housing, domestic manufacturing, and economic growth.
