Making sure the foundations of our economy and communities rest on strong, reliable, American cement.

Our Mission

Cement forms the foundation of our homes, businesses, roads, and communities. It is a strategic resource that is necessary for our infrastructure, supports economic opportunity and domestic manufacturing, and is critical to our national security.  However, the U.S. is being threatened by low-quality imports that don’t meet the same standards and threaten to kill jobs and undermine America’s ability to produce the cement it needs, when it needs it.

American Foundations is committed to ensuring that our nation’s infrastructure is built on strong, reliable foundations that are only possible with U.S. cement.

Our Priorities

Protecting American Jobs

America’s cement and concrete industry creates 577,000 jobs nationwide and supports the addition of approximately $130 billion to the U.S. economy, according to the American Cement Association. We need policies that support continued domestic cement production to safeguard our jobs, growth, and prosperity.

Building Communities

Cement, and the concrete it produces, are vital components of our everyday infrastructure, supporting schools, public facilities, and businesses, while paving the roads, bridges, and sidewalks in between. Local businesses and governments should not have to choose between long delays or substandard, potentially dangerous foreign products.

Strengthening National Security

A reliable supply of high-quality, durable cement is essential for national security. Cement is a critical component of resilient infrastructure that can withstand natural disasters and support emergency response and defense. Steps must be taken to ensure that we can be cement independent, so we are not reliant on substandard foreign products or vulnerable to supply chain disruption in the face of threats.

Maintaining High Standards

Many foreign imports do not meet international quality standards or product certifications, creating risks for workers, consumers, and the public. The way to counter these threats is through purchasing policies that support a robust and reliable supply of high-quality, accountable, American-made cement.
